Bot policy
[edytuj]Ok, I'm for it, but after reading m:Bot policy I'm still not sure how should I establish the local policy. Should I write some kind of set of rules in Polish and English? Actually I have very little time and no time for inventing some regulations. Isn't it enough to link to the Meta page? --Derbeth talk 21:15, 7 paź 2009 (CEST)
- You don't have to do anything. There will come a notice that the wiki has accepted the bot policy and the all the interwiki bots request are handled by the stewards, the other (bot) requests will be handled by the local burocrate. Carsrac 23:37, 7 paź 2009 (CEST)
- I changed my mind. I think that automatic bot status approval is a dangerous thing that won't work in practise for projects other than Wikipedia. --Derbeth talk 14:19, 17 paź 2009 (CEST)
- For the interwikis the only extraordinary rule is that if a book has /Okładka page, interwikis and categories should go there, not to the table of contents. If a book doesn't have /Okładka page, interwikis and categories go to the book table of contents. Example of the first case is Szachy/Okładka, of the second case is Koreański. --Derbeth talk 23:55, 27 paź 2009 (CET)
CarsracBot (Botflag request)
[edytuj]I'm for it, but I'd like to see more bot edits (about 30) to know how well does it work.
For example, I don't like edits like this: http://pl.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=%C5%81acina&diff=109655&oldid=92511. All interwikis are on page Łacina/Okładka, English Wikibooks page also link there, so if this was a bot edit, I think it works incorrectly. --Derbeth talk 21:17, 7 paź 2009 (CEST)
- It is a human that controles the bot. And in the case of Łacina/Okładka and Łacina it is the human that makes the discussion if all the interwiki are to the one or the other. Carsrac 23:29, 7 paź 2009 (CEST)
- Sorry, but at the moment I cannot give you a bot flag. Bots have to follow the local policies and your bot clearly isn't. After I made a complaint above, it made an edit [1], putting interwikis on a wrong page. For some books we have a special page, suffixed with "/Okładka", which gathers categories and interwikis. Sorry, but I've lost trust for your bot. --Derbeth talk 14:02, 17 paź 2009 (CEST)
- Could explain to me the local policies so that the my bot and other bots know what rules to follow for interwiki links. I will run my bot in test mode to prove that my bot can follow the rule that the iw link should all ways on the /Okładka page. The first time I was too quick and I did not read your comment correctly. Carsrac 09:37, 25 paź 2009 (CET)
